I love the gritty noir feel to this story. Whether it's madness or the distortion of time and space, the protagonist is in a dark place. I wouldn't want to run into him, but I also pity him.
Yes, it does have a noir feel! It wasn't the easiest story I've tangled with the last few months and I think I'll come back to it at some point. I've got the feeling I left some things on the table with this one. But there's a lot more to get through after some months of downtime and I can feel great potential just around the corner. As always, thanks for reading, Jennifer! I really appreciate the support!
Thanks EJ! Hearing this from you means the world. After the struggle this week I needed it. And thanks for pushing Fisherman, btw. Started it up again yesterday and Lottie's tale is heating up!
As I contemplate all the versions of me that could have been and maybe were/are, this made MY flesh creep. The desperate hole the protagonist is in is absolute darkness. Great story!
Thanks Liz! It hasn't been easy to get it down and it's far from perfect, but I'm feeling a subtle change with this one. Maybe it's the lingering illness talking, but I think I'm reaching for something. Too soon to tell but I hope so. I need it. I've been loving your stories, btw! Have to pace myself so I don't burn through your archive in one sitting.
Your storytelling skills are sharp, sharp, sharp! I am working on what should be a simple story right now that has fought me for months. Writing isn’t easy; we are channeling stories from a mysterious void!
Yeah, you're right. I had one locked and loaded that completely stalled out. That one will probably turn out to be a long engagement as well. It's weird. You never know how it's gonna go until you sit down. Powerful magic. But very unstable.
Wow. I did not see that coming. Just driving along and then a sharp turn down a dark side street. Moody, desperate and nasty - just a terrific story Ken. I loved it. - Jim
Very generous, Jim. Thank you. I'm glad it came together but I don't think I got it all this time around. It's sharp and nasty, though. Some of it put *my* hair up. I guess that's good enough for now!

So compelling- always sorry when your stories end! 🫶🏼✨
Thanks Tracy. That may just be the best compliment I've ever gotten!
this is damn good Ken. the story is gripping and scary and your prose is pure fire as always.
